DANIEL IN THE LION'S DEN.  Gaining POWER is a PROCESS!  Daniel was a man of "extraordinary" abilities, intellectually and spiritually. But, he had to deny himself and embrace the Kingdom protocol of fasting in order to remain in a posture and position to receive from God.

Read Daniel 10:2 & 10:3 and witness the powerful affects and benefits of spiritual fasting.

Try the "Daniel Fast" from now until Easter and draw near to Him during this season of reflection, repentance, and reverence.

On this fast you can eat but it must contain only those ALL NATURAL foods which comes from the ground (basically). For example, potatos, veggies, fruits.  No breads, no meats, no "sugary" biproducts of any sort.  You should drink WATER and can drink TEA, but NO SODAS.  If sacrificing regular food is not an issue for you, try obstaining from something else, like television, snacks/sweets, sodas, telephone, etc.

A Recipe for the Daniel Fast:
Garden Vegetable Soup

This recipe calls for fresh vegetables, but substitute with frozen varieties if they are not available. By the way, tests show that frozen vegetables actually retain more of their vitamins and minerals because they are frozen so soon after harvesting.

Ingredients:

4 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups chopped leeks, white part only (from approximately 3 medium leeks)

2 tablespoons finely minced garlic

Salt

2 cups carrots, peeled and chopped into rounds (approximately 2 medium)

2 cups peeled and diced potatoes

2 cups fresh green beans, broken or cut into 3/4-inch pieces

2 quarts vegetable broth

4 cups peeled, seeded, and chopped tomatoes

2 ears corn, kernels removed

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/4 cup packed, chopped fresh parsley leaves

1 - 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
